Dream Big

Artist and designer Pete Fecteau spent the better part of 2010 creating a mosaic of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. using 4,242 Rubik’s Cubes. The mosaic measures 18’6″ by 9’8″ and weighs approximately 1,000 pounds. This project called Dream Big.
“I woke up from the dream and it was like I was on fire. I spend three hours that morning writing down the concept and brainstorming. When I stepped back I realized how bat-s*** crazy it was but there was something pushing me to make it a reality. Sometimes I don’t think I woke up from that dream. It still seems crazy.”

MEGGS “Inner Demons” Exhibition @ Red Bull Studios Recap

We previously informed you about MEGGS’s upcoming “Inner Demons” exhibition at Red Bull Studios and, now, we have a full recap from the show’s opening. Exploring the role of demons – both mythical and metaphysical – the Australian artist displayed a wide array of sketches, paintings, sculptures and installation pieces all designed to evoke fear, discomfort and insecurity and, eventually, help viewers overcome these feelings. With paint dripping off of canvases and onto the walls and the presence of a quite literal “Inner Demon” sitting in an armchair in the studio, the exhibition is equal parts provocative art and show business glitz.
